Peacocks On The Prowl At A South Florida Campground

Southern Comfort RV Park Florida City

I’d been out-n-about running errands for the day.

When I got back to my campsite, I was greeted by a couple of the resident peacocks.

There’s a pride of peafowl that roam the campground. They are both beautiful and noisy. They often sound like a cat who got its tail caught in a blender.

As I Plug The Van Into The Electric Pedestal…

I notice a couple of peacocks by the tree in back of my neighbors campsite.

A courageous peacock walks towards me.

The other peacock lingers in the background. Was this peacock just shy or was he hanging back in a slick maneuver to attack me while I was distracted by the first peacock?

As The Peacock Gets Closer…

I start calmly talking to him.

I wanted to see his fancy feathers and sweetly ask him to put on a show for me.

But the big stubborn bird strutted right past me… ignoring my request.

Inside The Van…

I start setting up the interior. There’s not much to do other than turn the roof fan on and put the privacy shades in the front windshield, passenger and driver windows.

I grab the shades from the back of the van and turn to put them in the front windows.

Suddenly… through the glare of my not-so-clean front windshield, there are oodles of “eyes” looking at me.

Lots of peacock "eyes" looking at me through the front window of the van.

As The Peacock Moves Into Full View…

I open the side door – hoping not to startle Mr Peacock away.

He’s too busy strutting his stuff and doesn’t run away. He’s acting like such a Drama King.

His back side is facing me now. I think it’s his way of telling me to “Talk to the butt!”.

The back end of a peacock!

I didn’t realize their back side feathers were so fluffy-like!

Finally Getting The Show I Asked For…

Mr Peacock slowly turns around as he holds his head and feathers high.

He acts likes he’s in a fashion show!

I enjoy several minutes of Mr Peacock’s unexpected performance before he wanders on to the next campsite.

Parting Thoughts…

It never hurts to ask for something… even if you’re asking a peacock for a show!

It may have been a little, unexpected thing but having a front row seat to my own personal show certainly brightened my day.

What little, unexpected thing has brightened your day lately?

They really are beautiful! But their call is loud and sometimes sounds like someone is screaming for help! LOL

Their loudness has startled me many times. Especially first thing in the morning.
