Tree Frog Escapades As South Florida Warms Up

Cute tiny smiling tree frog.

It’s warming up in south Florida!

The weather is still nice but, from past experience, March weather is iffy. It can warm up and cool off -or- it can warm up and warm up even more!

Either way, the critters are venturing out more!

A Neighborly Tree Frog Adventure…

Now that we’re on a warming trend, the tree frogs are making themselves known.

I was outside talking with my neighbor when his wife, from inside their trailer, knocked on the window – needing him urgently.

Not more than 60 seconds later… my neighbor came outside with his hands cupped and said “You won’t believe what I found in our shower!”.

As I walk over to check it out, he opens his hands and out jumps a little tree frog.

Apparently his wife didn’t want to shower with an audience!

A Tree Frog Tries To Get Cozy In Bed…

A few days later, one of the little stinkers got into the van.

It most likely got in when I opened the door. They like to hide in the outside cracks of the van doors. When I open a door, they sneak right in.

It was early evening when I went outside to dump my porta-potti and grey water tank. After coming back inside, in the middle of changing clothes, I saw a blob crawling on my bed.

It was a tree frog.

They aren’t big but they’re hoppity!

I quickly grabbed a cup from the rack of dishes still drying on the counter.

Without hesitation, I scooped the little bugger up before he had a chance to hop away.

Unfortunately I Was Without Pants…

Being in the middle of changing clothes… I had no pants on.

There I stood… half-dressed… holding a frog in a cup… wondering what to do with it!

I grabbed a paper towel and put it over the top of the cup so I could finish getting dressed.

Thankfully the frog stayed in the cup but, in hindsight, a paper towel wasn’t the best idea for containing a tiny frog in a cup!

Setting The Tree Frog Free…

Fully dressed, I took the frog outside to set him free.

He grabbed on to the paper towel and wouldn’t let go.

I had to give him a little bonk to get him to jump away.

Tree Frog In The Mirror…

Several days after the “frog in bed” escapade…

Nikki and Misael washed the van for me.

Washing The Van In South Florida
Bella’s only half washed but she’s lookin’ good!

As Nikki was washing the driver’s side, a little frog came out from behind the side view mirror.

The frog made his way to the top of the van but we have no clue where he went from there.

Now I know another one of their hiding spots!

I Mostly Supervised The Washing…

Since they were using toxic-to-me products, I did not help with washing the van.

Instead, I sat upwind and under the cool trees with my Prince.

Prince is one of Nikki and Misael’s outdoor cats. I always knew “one day my Prince will come” and here he is!

Prince forgot how to roll his tongue back into his mouth LOL

Prince is so lovey-dovey that I could only get close-up pictures.

There was a brief moment when Prince seemed to forget how to roll his tongue back into his mouth!

Parting Thoughts…

I use my own images whenever possible but the top image of a cute smiling frog is from Getty Images via my Canva Pro account.

I have less than a month before I head north. Every year it seems the time I get to spend here goes by faster and faster.

If the weather stays decent, I’ll be here until April 1.

If the weather gets too humid, I’ll leave sooner.

You had me rolling in laughter over catching the tree frog, no pants on, what to do. HAHA

I am definitely like your neighbor lady hollering for her husband to “come save me” as I say.

Thanks for sharing your adventures and the great read.
